PP periods (TMI)

So far, my PP periods have been wacky!  I also had a tubal when the boys were born (c-section) so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.  When they first start they are very heavy...ultra plus tampon + pad x 2 hours = not enough protection.  That makes the overnight, well, let's just say it's not pretty.  So after 2 days of that kind of heaviness my period "stops".  Totally stops for an entire day...not one drop of anything.  Then it will start back up again the next day but not nearly as heavy as before.  Is this normal?  I'm 4+ months PP and I'm not breastfeeding.

Re: PP periods (TMI)

  • My experience was very similar. My PP periods were crazy heavy for a day or two (shockingly heavy), dropped off or stopped for a day and then were "normal" for a day or two. All in all, they were longer and heavier than my pre-pregnancy periods. They did eventually taper off and returned to normal after several months. (I also had a c-section but I was nursing during this so who knows what impacts it and what doesn't. It's all a mystery to me.)

  • I think it can be across the board.  Mine have actually been the opposite.  They were pretty heavy before pregnancy, and then I didn't have one til 8 months PP (I BF). They're much lighter and shorter than they were before.  From what I've heard, though, it's normal for them to be abnormal. :)

  • Mine are weird too.  I have had a couple that have started early, but just spotting, for like a week, but then I'll have "normal" bleeding for the normal amount of time (so basically I end up having a 2 week long period).

Part of me wonders if it used to be like this before I went on the pill, but I just don't remember because it'd been so long since my own hormones were in control.  Menstruation amnesia?
