Keeping child in crib...climbing out!

Jalen has climbed out of his crib multiple times already! I have heard about crib tents, but I am not sure if I like them. I read a lot of how unsafe they are. Is there anything else out there? I am not ready to put him in a toddler bed yet. I swear if I had a climbing wall in my house, he would climb it! This kid gets into everything and climbs over anything!

Page Punkfiction on the Toddlers 12-24 board (or PM her).  She uses crib tents for both her girls, and swears by them.  I'd love to hear your experience if you decide to try them.  We're going to be in the same boat, I'm afraid.  My next line of defense (if the crib tent thing doesn't work out) is a toddler  bed with a baby gate on his door, but I don't like that option, either!

Toddler bed up against a wall with a rail guard on the other side? Only problem is he'll still get out of bed on you - he just has less distance to travel to the ground.

I think they might have had your DS in mind when they designed the tent things!  Sorry!

This would be my suggestion and I see you went for it.  Hope it works!

I used to climb out of my crib when I was baby.  Funny thing is... I can totally remember doing it.  I would go and sleep in the hallway on the floor right outside my parents room.  My mom said she get up to check on me and would put me back in my crib and by morning I'd be back in the hallway.  She said when she went in to check on my one night I was teetering on the railing and then that's when she moved me straight to a full size bed.  She said I slept with no problems after that.

Of course back then they didn't have those crib tents... sounds like that is your best option and if that doesn't work then moving to a toddler bed, at least something closer to the floor so he doesn't get hurt if he falls climbing out.

babygate on his door......I know my mom had to remind me that she had to do this with my sister when she was little.   At least you know he is safe in his room and not runnging around the house!
