I just want to do a little celebration of my first nap success in weeks and share my learnings!
DD has been fighting naps like crazy and only napping 30 minutes or so at a time. I was also trying to deswaddle. After a disastrous night ( probably compounded by her shots) I decided I needed to take a step back. I tried putting her down for her morning nap after being rocked to sleep but her arms flew out and she woke herself up. I think she still has a strong Moro reflex so I quickly swaddled her back up.
After rocking to sleep again I put her in her crib and then stayed in the nursery. I took pantley's advice and when dd started to stir after 25 minutes or so patted her butt. After 5 minutes or so she settled back in to a good sleep.
Yahoo!!!
Has anyone used this technique? Do they really eventually start lengthening their naps if I keep doing this?
