how to help him sit up

when all he does is arch his back? any ideas? i've been trying to lean him forward so he'll figure out how to lean on his hands, but he just arches his back and falls backward (i catch him of course....)

    I sit on the floor and have DD sit between my legs so she has me to lean back against if she needs to and I put toys on the floor in front of her.

    this and give him a fun toy to play with that he can lean on/tripod on.  we use DD's little piano, she doesn't even realize she is sitting by herself until she looks up and sometimes she will then lose her balance, but we just keep practicing every day.

    I do the same as PP..but also try putting pillows around on each side and behind him..Maybe that will help so if he flings himself back he wont get hurt..

    I would also make sure you practice when his tummy is empty like right before lunch or a bottle (before he is fussy of course)

    Another thing to check is if his diaper is too tight. Maybe loosen up the tabs a bit?

    If you tickle his tummy he will naturally contract his stomach muscles. I also put a mirror in font of DS and he talks to the baby sitting across from him.

    This and we gave him his own tv remote with no batteries that he liked to tripod on.

    This and we also used the Bumbo chair which helped.

    this is exactly what i do with him......he's just content to lay back on me.....

    i guess we'll just keep trying :)
