Transitioning to whole milk and weaning off bottle...

When did you know it was time to transition to whole milk? We see our pedi on July 1st but I want to make sure we have all our questions ready. DD is having about 24oz of formula now the rest is regular food/meals we eat. DD can easily drink off sippy cups  with no problem but we have only use them for water. We are thinking of putting formula and eventually whole milk to subtitute the bottles.

Any thoughts?

This is seriously heartbreaking to see my little baby turn into a little girl. She is so indenpendent and I can tell she is ready to wish away the bottles but I'm not. I like holding her while feeding her...I cried when I stopped breastfeeding because I loved the snuggling now this...growing up is hard

O no! Don't be sad. She'll always be your little baby - bottles or not!

For us there was no real indication. She was eating more solids and she was one year old so our pedi said to go ahead and do whole milk.

I can't believe she's 1 already!  Happy birthday!!

We transitioned cold turkey after DD's 1yr appointment, she took to whole milk without issue.  We moved from bottle to sippy at 14mo, although I can't remember any significant problems.

Aww, she'll always be your baby girl!  I promise the snuggles get so much better!  I love it when I get unexpected hugs and kisses & "I love yous" - it will melt your heart.

We switched cold turkey right after a year. Cold turkey for switching to milk as well as switching to sippy cup. She had no problem. Some kids have a harder time. Maybe just try putting milk in the sippy and no formula. For my daughter cold turkey was the best way to do it. be done with it and move forward. (Same with getting rid of the paci). A gradual transition would have been harder on her.

Thanks ladies! Unfortunately, we already spoiled DD by warming up her formula bottles. It's how they do it in daycare too. So you guess it, she only takes warn whole milk bottles. We are experiencing constipation problems with the first week of trying it. Argh! Seeing ped today so we'll see what he advices.
