airplane/carseat ??

I'm wondering how the process went for you on the plane and in the airport for you.  Did they want to see the carseat paperwork to see that it was FAA approved or is that just written on the website?  Wondering how worried I should be for a 3 hr flight!

Re: airplane/carseat ??

  • carseat paperwork???  LOL

you're lucky if they actually confirm that you're the right person who is flying

  • You just walk through the line with it. No big deal. If it fits through the scanny-thing (quite the technical term, huh) they will put it through. If not, they will wand it and wipe it down with bomb-detecting wipes. At least, that is what they did with us.

No paperwork, no questions. It is not as big of a deal as you are making it to be. Nobody cares.

  • Thanks ladies, I figured they don't check to much into it, but don't want any surprises!
  • Your car seat will have a sticker on it that's what they look for. Mine did not go thur the x-Ray thing so he had me open the cover so they could feel and look around it.
  • They have asked us when boarding the plane if the carseat was approved for FAA use.  We showed them the sticker on it that said it was.  You could also take your owners manual if for some reason there is no sticker on your carseat.  Of probably 20 plus flights we have only been asked once.

  • When you are actually getting on the plane they will ask to look for the sticker (even if you tell them it is FAA approved).  We have ALWAYS been asked.  We don't fly with it all the time...but I'd say at least 7-8 times we've had to show them the sticker.  It's a pain because if you are also carrying other stuff you have to shift stuff around...plus hang on to a toddler!
