Carseat in a bucket seat/captain chair?

Does anyone have a 3-row SUV/car or a minivan with bucket seats (captain chair) in the 2nd row? Do you have a carseat in the bucket seat? Tell me about it ....

 

We are looking at buying a GMC Acadia, but DH is worried about putting a carseat in the bucket seats. I keep telling him people do this all the time, but he is worried about safety.

My SIL as a minivan with bucket seats in the second row and has always had carseats there.  Her cousin installs carseats (has had the saftey training etc) and he does it too.  There are no saftely issues that I am aware of.

You mean the captains chairs? Yeah, it's just fine to put car seats there. The car manual will tell you specifically if you cannot or should not install a car seat in a specific location, and I've never heard of a vehicle that prohibits them in the captains chairs.

We have a mini van with 2nd row buckets and I have had both a fwd facing 5pt harness as well as a bucket for an infant seat. No issues with either. Both bucket seats have LATCH.

We do and I have NEVER questioned their safety.

I knew it was done and didn't question the safety, but DH tends to be a worrywart. I told him I would look into it for him. lol

I agree with the pp. No issues that I am aware of.

And you have done your research - the nesties have spoken. Although checking the manual for the particular model would be good to confirm it

I have an Acadia that is set up like this and the car seats are fine..

I have a 2009 GMC acadia.  What is his worry?

 

We have a graco nautilus in the seat and it fits fine.  and when we test drove it, we have a britax marathon, it also fit fine.

I have a GMC Acadia with captains chairs.  We have a Graco Nautilus in one seat and a rear facing Britax Marathon in the other.  They both fit just fine.
