So I'm due in early november and my 3 sisters are planning a shower for me labor day weekend. At first I was worried that not a lot of people would show up since they often go away that weekend. Then they suggested a saturday brunch(9/4)at 1130am-3. I wanted something simple and small..possibly at my mothers house. That is the only weekend we can do it since my one sis lives out of state. What do you ladies think? Is it a bad weekend to have one??
Thanks.
Re: baby shower on labor day weekend..opinions??
You know your friends adn family. My friends and family dont' go away, so it wouldn't be an issue.
I think Saturday is actually the better day to have it - it leaves Sunday and Monday open for people who have family plans.

Oh, and on the brunch vs at your moms home -they are the hosts, let them do what they want.
Showers in my group are almost always at someones home. Inexpensive, relatively easy, etc. For my baby shower, my friends decided to do a brunch at a restaurant. I was really "worried". I just didn't want them spending a ton of $$ on this.
But they all were like "We want to do this, and honestly, not having to set up or clean up is a huge relief. We can leave when the shower ends - not an hour later".
So - I was like "Cool!" and let it be. Having it at your moms house may nto be something she wants to do!

My best friend is hosting a small co-ed "party" for us that weekend too. Our shower with family and family friends will be in July, but she wanted to do something so that no friends were left out and so that DH's friends could help celebrate too. I think it is so cute to have a baby party/shower on "Labor" Day weekend! I know, cheesy, but whatever!
