Does your 4 yo talk like this?

DS has started to add an "eeeee" or "yyyy" sound on everything. For example, he will say, "can I have some milkyyyyy please-eeee?"

It's annoying. Anyone else?

  • You just quoted my DD.  Seriously, was she at your house??Stick out tongue

ETA:  She doesn't talk like that all of the time, but will do it every now and then.

  • Yeah, DS did that briefly. It will stop. I decided to find it endearing.
  • Ditto Elise.  I think all of mine did that for a bit.

Yeah - every now and then here too. I think he does it because he thinks it cute.

  • Thank god no!  That would make me nuts.

Of course my 4 year old thinks she's 30.

  • No

  • No...but my MIL does and it drives me BATTY!!!  "Sweetie, let's put on your shoesies."  "Give me your leggie."

The worst is DD1 has a name that very deliberately does not have a nickname and is only one syllable.  There is no reason to add "-eee" at the end.
