Hi ladies! I have been MIA lately due to having a virus on my computer at home. Then I was in a wedding this past weekend which had me very busy!
How is everyone doing? We have been trying to grill out more now that the nice weather is here. We have tried a few new marinades and grilled sweet potatoes last night. They were yummy!
I'm still struggling with trying to find time to work out. But I'm getting out for walks whenever I can.
Any exercise/fitness tips to share? Any new recipes you want to rave about?
Re: **Healthy Living Check-In**
I saw in someone's siggy a "My Fitness Pal" tracker so I went to check out the site....love it! It helps determine your ideal amount of calories for what you want to lose, tracks your food and work-outs and, I think, has a receipe section. Total rave!
How was the wedding? I'm in a friend's wedding in October and every day I see her true Bridezilla coming out.
Well, my parents visited last week and surprised DH with a margarita machine. So, needless to say, I've drank more in the past week than I have in a LOOONG time. But, I have been eating more salads and was down a pound when I weighed myself yesterday.
Speaking of salads, anyone have a low-cal/low-fat dressing (or recipe for a homemade one) you like?
Thanks for the rec, I'll have to check it out!
The wedding was very nice. It was hard to leave Stella all day and I was in major pain by the end of the night b/c I didn't have time to pump. I had to pump & dump when I got home b/c I had been drinking and I think that hurt worse than the physical pain, lol!
Good luck with your Bridezilla....my friend wasn't too bad, but she did get stressed easily. The bridesmaidse were all summoned to her hotel room during cocktail hour b/c she was in panic mode over something that I never even found out what it was!
My eating has been so/so. I've been doing well overall, just the past 3 days I have had a lot of junk (donuts for father's day, chinese takeout last night, etc.) I just went shopping so we have better food in the house again.
I've been out running twice so far & feel good about it. The past few days have been busy so I haven't gone since Saturday, but I plan to go tonight once Charlie is in bed.
I made Black Bean soup last week that was so yummy. It is vegan (well, until I added some cheese on top!), healthy, light enough for a warmer day, freezes well & it is CHEAP! You have to plan ahead for soaking the beans, and then they need to cook for 1 1/2 hours, but it is hands off so didn't seem too time consuming.

Mmmmmmm margaritas! I'm planning a lunch with some friends soon to a local Mexican place with yummy margarita's. I can't wait!
I use Good Seasons Italian dressing and make the "less oil/more water" recipe on the package. You can probably find some recipes over on What's Cooking or Health & Fitness, too. I think most are just olive oil, vinegar, garlic, lemon and other seasonings.
I did sooo good last week, and was down 2 lbs on Thursday when I weighed myself. This week, not so much. I haven't been eating healthy, but have been watching my portion sizes. And, DH has been on an ice cream kick, so we went out for ice cream 3 times since the weekend!
JenJar- as far as healthy salad dressing, I love to just make my own balsamic vinaigrette. I use more vinegar, and less olive oil (and use a good olive oil, it gives it much more flavor) and then add some salt, pepper, and a little dijon mustard. sometimes a drizzle of honey too. Since it's more vinegar-y, you end up using less too.
FAIL. Super fail.
I haven't got on the scale but considering my pants are like cutting off my circulation, I can only imagine. I'm really struggling. I wanted SO bad to get in shape before we TTC'ed #2. However, with that date coming closer- somehow DH & I have convinced ourselves to have a super fun summer b/c next summer we may have a newborn. Super fun for us has translated to; tons of bbqs, lots of margaritas/mai tais/ beer, going out to eat at places with outdoor dining, Hosting lots of "game nights" where everyone brings an app to pass (jalapeno poppers, dips, cookies). I fell off the wagon... hard. Clothes that were falling off last summer barely fit.
Ok now I'm depressed.
