Babies on the Brain

Best name for a line of baby hair care products?

Hi,

I am working on a project for school and am hoping you can help me!  We have to come up with a baby-related business and I am doing a baby hair care line.  I can't decide on the name so thought I would use The Bump as my informal focus group. :)

Which do you like best?  Or do you have other suggestions?  I really need an A in this class!!!

 1.  Bebe Fluff

2.  Cakehead Baby

3.  Blueberry Baby

4.  Giggly Goose Baby

5.  Buttercup Baby

6.  Little Lamb Locks

7.  Cupcake Kisses

8.  Sweet Gumdrop

  • I don't know, but I would not buy anything with any of those names for my kids.

And I highly suggest you strike option B off the list right now.  I read it as "Crackhead Baby."  Not good marketing.

Of course this is all I see now when I read that post.

They are "cutsey" names and all...but none of them would scream buy me.

Not sure what direction we are headed. Either way, I am up for the ride.

  • They are all pretty nauseating.
  • They remind me of dog products.

  • I second the crackhead thing
  • Ok, I'm not going to actually give name suggestions because I think y'all should come up with your own, but I will give you some opinions from a mom.

    1. Stay away from things that are oozing with cutesy.  Keep it simple, and to the point.  Yes, it's ok to be a little creative and witty, and even play with words, but if the name makes it sound like it should be wrapped up in lace and ribbons... it's probably not going to sell well with most parents.

    2. If you're selling hair care products, don't name them after foods.  I don't know about everyone else, but I have no desire to wash my childrens' hair with products that sound like they would belong in my pantry.  If I wanted to do that I'd go to Bath and Body Works and spend assloads of money on things named Brown Sugar and Vanilla whatever.

    3. What is it that makes your product stand out?  Is it green?  Hypoallergenic?  Cost-effective?  All of the above?  Whatever it is that makes it stand out, try and work that into your name somehow.

    4. Again, just keep it simple.  Don't overthink it.  Chances are the harder you try the less appealing it's going to be to most people.

    Good luck!

  • Of all the hundreds of products babies "need", you're doing hair care?  Most babies don't even have hair.  If they do, the "care" is minimal.  Considering all the other baby-related costs that parents have, I think a hair care line would be at the bottom of the list for most people to splurge on.  Like, shampoos and conditioners?  Strange.  If it's not too late, I might suggest going a totally different direction (depending on how hypothetical this project is).
