I RARELY paint my nails..never my fingernails, occasionally my toenails for a "big event" or something, but not very often. Just not into the maintenance that goes with it, etc. so I end up looking like a French crack whore once the polish starts chipping and all that stuff.
HOWEVER, I want to turn over a new leaf, do some fun/nice things for myself and it's summer -- what better time than now to paint my toesies, right?
But I am seriously clueless as to what colors would look good on my albino toes. Or what's "in" right now. Can any of you more normal girlies clue me in a lil bit? My toes will thank you.
Re: Can someone help an uneducated b*tch out?
Meh, go with what you want.
I just got my 2nd pedicure with my sister on Saturday! Go that route
Hope all is well, love. I've been thinking of you!
My toes are more translucent than albino, but I have on kind of a lavender shimmery thing and it looks ok. It also looks ok on both of Ian's big toes.
Sidenote - I flew through MSP today. I walked a good f'ing mile from gate C2 to A11! F'ers. And then it rained.
IMO there are no rules for the summer. During the summer months I love the fun colors.
But if you are a little nervous about "fun colors" I would stick to pastel colors like if you were getting a french mani on your toes. pale pinks, coral, would look good if you are worried about your feet looking "too white'
For us pasty girls - I think the brighter or darker, the better. Go to opi.com. There is a place to "try on" colors and you can adjust the skin tone.
"I'm not really a waitress" is my all time favorite.

Ah yes. Our airport is a b*tch sometimes if you have to get from one concourse to another in a specific amount of time. Were you stuck on the tarmac for a long time?

I vote the pedicure route - that polish stays forever!
I keep mine painted year-round. For summer, its usually some coral tone (and I'm pasty white. I will throw in a hot pink or purple-y pink occasionally. I don't like blues/purples/silver/other random colors...it has to be traditional girly for me.
For fall/winter it's always dk red or dk pink in some form.
In the summer I like insanely day-glo colors for toes (loving OPI My Chihuahua Bites), but if you want low maintence go with a light pink.
Actually not at all, but I practically RAN that mile because I only had like 15 mins to get the next plane. Yeah, turns out the plane coming into the gate that was "on time" was actually not "on time" so it was all for naught. So I could've eaten more than just that bag of delicious animal crackers for lunch.
I'm such a bore - I only do French manis on my fingers and toes. def. more maintenance on the hands.
As far as colors... I think OPI holds up really well without chipping like the cheaper stuff. One that I really like that Ive been using on DD is Grand Central Carnation, but I bought it a while ago, so it may be discontinued.
Corals and turquoises seem to be really popular this summer. I like bright colors in the summer, personally. My favorite brand of polish is Zoya (it's 3 free, which means it's free of some of the toxins/chemicals others have). I really like the summer collections they have right now.

makeup and beauty questions? I'm your slore, that's for sure!
Actually if you have any old nail polishes they are doing an exchange program through the 30th of June where you can get as many new polishes as you send in for just $3.50 a bottle (including shipping I think). I need to go through and weed out my collection and get on it. I'm so f*cking lazy...
It's usually fast shipping, and I like it because I use it on Jackson (don't judge me!!! he likes nail polish) without worrying what sh*t is in it. Plus it's reasonable for a toxin-free polish. A lot of others are around $15 vs. $7.
I love OPI polishes (I have over 40 different shades) and I mainly do pinks & purples with some reds, oranges or corals thrown in. I have a couple of blues, but I've only used them once. I usually hit up Ulta when they have a Buy 2 Get 1 Free promo going. I plan to pick up a couple of the Shrek colors (Funkey Dunkey being one of them) when I see the next sale.
Some of my favorites include I'm Not Really A Waitress, A-Rose At Dawn...Broke By Noon, I Don't Do Dishes, Holy Pink Pagoda, Purple With A Purpose, Purple-Opolis, Lafies And Magenta-Men, Didgeridoo Your Nails, Hong Kong Sunrise, Melon Of Troy, Met On The Internet and Lighten Up, You're Too Pence.
Check out https://www.opi.com/NailStudio/NailStudio_SA.shtml . You can lighten up the hand to your skin tone (or as close as it will let you) and then get an idea of what each color might look like on you.

I have to disagree that you must buy expensive polish for it to last on your toes. I buy the $.99 Walmart special polish. I *always* have my toes painted--can't stand them to be naked. Mine are currently a bright, shimmery pink. I'll have to take it off to change colors...and that will probably be in a couple of months if I don't get bored before then. I wear flip flops almost exclusively during the summer, too.
ETA: I'm super fair skinned with freckles.
I agree. I use some of the Sally Hansen polishes as well and have had them last quite a while. I just bought two from the Sally Hansen HD line a week or so ago. I just happen to have a ton of the OPI colors because I love the variety, I can get them on sale & use a coupon at the same time (it rounds out to $4.50 per bottle when done that way) and the names are pretty fun.
