I have both scheduled for next week and am freaking out a bit. How bad are they? How bad is the recovery? We're in month 12, not yet pregnant, and I've always had really bad cramps, and my periods have been worse (heavier) in the last year. She wants to rule out endo, so we talked about a lap, but she just called and said she wanted to do a hysteroscopy d&c too...
Any experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Ladies who've done Lap and Hysteroscopy - please come in
I have a hysteroscopy scheduled for tomorrow to remove uterine polyps so I will let you know how it goes.
At my pre-op appt. today the RE said that the recovery will be quick. She said I could expect some slight cramping tomorrow and some bleeding similar to AF. She said I should be able to go back to work on Wednesday but I think I will take the day off to rest.
I had a lap last month and the recovery wasn't too bad. It was pretty hard to do anything the first 3 or 4 days, so you have to make yourself lay down and rest. After a week, I felt almost back to normal again, just a little tender on the incision spots. Just be sure you have a nice comfy place to come back to set up with everything you might need.
Good luck to you!
GL rebelina! I'm sure it will go well, and I'd love to hear about it when you're feeling better. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow!
thanks ladies. I have it on Wednesday, and will be taking Thurs and Fri off, and then have a long weekend because of the holiday, so that should be good. I'd love to hear more if anyone else wants to share!

I had both back in December. It was the easiest part of this whole process. I stayed in bed for a day and a half. After that, no pain meds were needed and I was up and at it like normal. Well, normal but slow. The only painful part of it was the shoulder pain from the gas and the swollen abdomen. Good luck!!

Thankful for every day
I had both back in October (full details are in my blog...you forget some things as time passes) and I think my recovery was longer than most because I had 4 incisions for the Lap part. I'd say little to none of my post-op pain was from the hystero...I just had a week or so of bleeding. As long as you lay as flat as possible the day after the surgery, you won't have trouble with the gas pains. It took about 3 days before I could even put on my own underwear without very careful maneuvering.
the comments on this blog post were very helpful to me:
