when I was a kid I was great at making friends.  It was easy effortless.  Then being a teenager hit and being cool and liking the right things doing the cool stuff became the priority and I just never fit in that world.  So I hung out with the guys.  I played D&D and board games and then later that became playing poker. 

Never had trouble getting boyfriends just, getting girlfriends.     Never seemed to out grow that.  Now that I have a husband its not as proper to hang out with the guys and I guess I should try to be a little more "girly"  

But I dont know..  I mean I like to bake, I like dogs, I still like poker and D&D.  I hate gossip, I cant stand shopping mostly because I know I cant spend money.  I dont even really drink all that. often and when i do lately its been whiskey.  

 

I know PCOS messes with your hormones,,  can that be why I dont relate to girl talk and girl stuff?   Or am I just wired weird?

LOL.. introversion is not a symptom of PCOS.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound snarky, as I am introverted, and I have PCOS, but a few of my cousins also have it, and they have NO problems in the social area, and I've never read that anywhere as a symptom. I'd like to blame my awkwardness on PCOS, but I have an anxiety disorder, which I know is the source of it for me.

I could've written this exact post.  The girlfriends I had back in high school were awful people.  I've only had a couple of good girlfriends since then.  I've always gotten along better with guys & since I know it bothers DH I don't hang out with my male friends much.  I don't drink much, but that's because alcoholism is on both sides of my family.

While I do have a close circle of girl friends that I've been close with since I was 12, I know what you mean...in the 20 years since meeting them mostly the people I get along with are guys.  I think it's just easier to be around guys because they don't judge as much.  But I think as an adult it's just harder in general to make new friends.  Cause you feel weird saying "hey, do you wanna hang out?" or "would you like to go grab lunch"...it's kinda like asking a girl on a date, you still don't want the rejection.  And honestly I find myself liking my husbands company and the precious alone time when I get it.  Plus the few times here and there when I get to see my old friends that it's like "do I have time for new friends? Not really!"

its amazing how many us feel the same way I guess..  I suffer from depression so I know this contributes but every time I leave a situation I feel like oh I said the wrong thing.. they looked at me funny I must be terrible.  Even on here If I post and dont get responses I feel like oh no one likes me and thats stupid.    I know thats not the truth because I lurk too.  I just feel neurotic sometimes I guess..  Even right now i have a refrain of "this is mud" going thru my head as a feared reply.

I feel like this all the time!  I always second guess what I say and, on here, what I post.

{{hugs}}  I know exactly how you feel.  I've always had more guy friends and I don't hang out with them at all anymore just because it really wouldn't be appropriate. My closest friends now are girls that I met on my local knot board back in the wedding planning days, it's hard to make new friends at this stage in your life.

(And I used to looooove D&D. My SN is after an awesome Swanmay character that I had for years)

Really thats awesome!!  I met my husband at a Magic draft a couple years ago.  He got me working on my first army for miniature gaming now.

One of my closest friends IRL confessed that she never had g/f's when she was younger. She was always one of the guys. It wasn't until a bunch of us local Nesties met that a few of us became really close, and she had g/f's.

You're not weird, you just haven't met friends that you can really bond with.
