so we had a few of our neighbours over last night to have a BBQ, swim and just hang out. Of course I was the only adult drinking water all night... I was hoping noone would noticed since it was so HOT outside and I tend to drink alot of water in the summer. But I was inside getting some of the food ready and my husby comes in and says "Dan and Steve just said 'is there something you aren't telling us? should you be celebrating fathers day as well?'" I was shocked! are you kidding me! I'm only 6 weeks, they can't know already! We live with my in-laws and are telling them tomorrow night (we are going out to dinner and i have a tank-top that says "9 months" so as we sit down for dinner i am going to take my sweater off and hopefully they will read my tank top and be surprise!) But right now DH and I are the only two who know... or so we thought? Dh said he walked in at the end of the conversation so he wasn't sure what his dad and the neighbours were talking about but I am a little upset about it. I don't want anyone to know yet. I have a m/c at 10 weeks last September and want to wait until at least 10-12 weeks to tell everyone I hope the surprise isn't ruined!

Re: supernatural ability to sense pregnancy??
I don't know but that's annoying. One of my students, age 6, randomly stopped and stared at my stomach about 2 weeks ago, then slowly reached up one finger and gently poked me in the gut. I just blinked, then said, "Get on the bus!" None of my coworkers had noticed a change in my appearance, but obviously this little dude thought something looked different!
Go figure!
I don't think people can. I think they sense things because they notice you're eating differently or not drinking, or you may be hitting a certain point in your marriage or your 1st child is a certain age and everyone thinks that you should be having kids. My MIL told us she knew I was pregnant when she saw me on one Sunday. It was a Sunday before I even knew I was pregnant. She said it was because I was wearing a baggy T shirt and capris. Um, no, it was because I was feeling like a slob that day!
Now my dog on the other hand. I'm convinced he knew within hours of me getting pregnant! He was at my side in every room I went into for days before I found out. He still is!
My SIL and MIL both said they knew (we just told everyone last week) because they both heard me say recently that I wasn't planning on being at my job for much longer. But I HATE my job (which they knew) and was job searching before I even knew I was pregnant! Me saying that had nothing to do with being pregnant or not.
So just sometimes you say things that mean nothing about being pregnant, but people take them that way anyway. ANNOYING!
I think there is some truth in peoples ability to sense it. My Grandmother, who has always been kind of "witchy" in that sense, was able to predict my sister in laws' pregnancy at my wedding before she had told anyone.
On another note, I think my dogs know. They never leave my side, and are more protective than usual. I think it's kind of sweet
I think some people are just sensitive to certain clues that you think are insignificant. And others just assume pregnancy when you've been married for a certain amount of time or your kids reach a certain age. Anytime I say "guess what?" to my best friend she asks if I'm pregnant. If I'm bloated or I rub my tummy, she asks if I'm pregnant. She just happened to ask me a few weeks after I found out I was pregnant with my second child. It doesn't mean she's in tune with my body, she just had good timing.
I got pregnant with my second son 2 weeks before my first son's 1st birthday. I hadn't had any symptoms and hadn't taken a test until a few weeks later. When we told our family my BIL said "I knew it!" He claims he looked at me and wondered if I was pregnant at my son's birthday party a few weeks earlier. Yeah, I doubt that he could tell I was pregnant when the egg had barely implanted in my uterus...
its probably just because you were drinking water when everyone else was drinking alcohol. people used to ask me that when my husband and i would go out and id just have water or something, but i wasnt pregnant i just had to drive home.
Some people have this sixth sense. A coworker of mine told me that she had a dream that I came in to work with a pregnant belly. I didnt think much of it then but 4 weeks later I found out I was preggers. She had the dream the night I conceived. Weird!
She had also predicted my other coworkers pregnancy when my coworker had no idea if she was pregnant yet until she went home and pee'd on the stick to find out.
