how do you make friends when you pcs to a new place?

Married 11/08/08 TTC since 2009 MC 3/22/10 at 9w4d MC 7/20/10 at 6w5d Homeowners since 2/24/11 BFP Father's Day 6/19/11 Pregnancy Ticker Psalm 139:13,15-16 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb...     I haven't had much luck so far. This is our first duty station, and DH and I share a car, so I am stuck home a lot. I'm very lucky that my neighbor is so wonderful, and we have a lot in common. She's introduced me to people and when DH is gone I'll be going back to college for a new degree, and hopefully will meet some people that way.

    at our last base i made friends with other spouses but it did take a while because DH and i shared a car for about 7 months... the only way i met people was through DH. His coworker would invite us out and bring their wives. We PCS'd a year after being at that base and now i have to start making friends all over again. This time it's even harder because all of DH's co-workers are older.

    It really depends.  MySpace has actually been great for meeting wives in the local area.  Overall though, I find it very difficult.  I'm a SAHM, so I don't have much of an outlet to meet many people.

    It was very hard for me to make friends here, all my friends are his co workers and one co worker of mine. It was difficult because they are all 20 something, single and party people, I am over 30 married and a mom. TOTALLY different lifestyle.

    When we lived in Georgia, I made most of my friends through fitness classes at the gym. We also had some friends from college come for their career course. So far I haven't had any luck making friends here in Arizona. I just started a new job so hopefully new friends will come along soon. Sometimes I think it's not worth the effort though, because we'll be moving again in September.

    IUI #1 - Gonal-F + Ovidrel = BFN
    IUI #2 - Femera + Gonal-F + Ovidrel + Endometrin = BFN
    IUI #3 - Gonal-F + Ovidrel + Endometrin = BFN
    IUI #4 - Gonal-F + Ovidrel + Endometrin = BFN
    IUI #5 - Menopur + Gonal-F + Ovidrel + Endometrin = BFN
    IVF #1 - Microdose Lupron Flare protocol = BFN
    FET = BFN - lost all remaining embryos
    IVF 2.0 - In progress. 20 retrieved. 16 mature. 10 fertilized with ICSI. 3, grade I embryos transferred, 7 made to freeze. Currently in the 2ww.

    i know what you mean...we want to PCS again soon so i dont want to get too attached to anyone

    It was easier when I was a child of a soldier, rather than a wife. When you're still going to school it's easier to make friends. The few friends I have are my neighbor and wives of DH's coworkers. Some I met through just hanging out and others I met through FRG meetings. As much as I hate FRG, I am coming to terms with it being a Co-leader. Sometimes it's the only way to know you'll have someone there when DH is gone.
