SO I Posted the other day about how we thought our townhouse was settling, like our door ws jammed & we developed cracks in the walls. Well yesterday morning, we called our HOA & they sent building inspectors out & teh fire cheif was here b/c our doors were jammed. they deemed it not safe for us to stay at our house & we had to evacuate. They think we are over a sink hole. So we did.

We packed up all our important documents, check books , event tickets we had coming up & stopped at outback on our way to our inlaws. Someone broke into my car & stole everything! DH's new $1000 camera, all our apperwork, check books, insurance info. everything.

We are both numb & dont even know what to do next.

And of course our IVF cycle will have to be cancelled since we're now basically homeless.

OMG!

If you haven't already, call your insurance company immediately!  Often times, they will cover items from a theft.  You may need to submit the report from the fire chief to substantiate the claim.  If your insurance covers theft, you WILL be able to justify a claim to cover the cash and camera.

Sadly, that won't help the hassle of your important documents etc.  People are just plain shitty.  Be sure to check the dumpster near the site.  They may have discarded those items.

If you have a very sweet provider, they may be able to cover this in time for your cycle.  We use StateFarm and our guy is really wonderful and understanding.

I am so sorry!  That is unbelievable!  I wish people who take things like that wouldthink about how they would feel if someone stole their important documents...people suck! 

When you file the police report remind the officer to check if Outback has cameras in their lots...they might and you might get lucky and catch the idiots!

We had a very similar theft situation while traveling in Jan. 2007.  We hadn't yet gotten to our hotel, and thus we still had everything valuable in our carry-ons.  Our rental car was broken into and they took both carry-ons and my large camera bag.  My carry-on had my entire wallet (including a lot of cash as it was about 10 days after Christmas, not to mention my checkbook, ID, credit cards, multiple gift cards, etc.), my cell phone, my calendar and tax records for the year prior, etc.  DH fortunately had his wallet in his pocket but everything else was taken, including his wedding ring which he had securely tied inside his backpack since his finger was swollen from traveling.  We spent the entire trip at the police station and fruitlessly searching nearby trash cans.

That cycle was a bust immediately, and with all of the stress my next cycle never got off the ground, but the cycle after that resulted in the child in my siggy and I can't help but think if my body hadn't been so messed up from the stress that I wouldn't have *this* child I was meant to have.

I'm incredibly, incredibly sorry.  I hope you can have some luck with insurance.  And my VERY best wishes with your next cycle, whenever that is able to happen.

Oh my god!!!!!!! That is devastating. I am so so sorry. If I were you I would be ready to kill that person if i found them. Did the police seem to have anything that could lead them them to the person that stole all of this?

Oh no, that's horrible!  

Seems kind of fishy that of all the times for your car to be broken into, and of all the cars in the parking lot, they chose your car when it was loaded with important things.

I hope the police catch them and you get your stuff back.  Cant your house insurance help you out- I'm sure they can pay for you to stay at an extended stay somewhere.  

I'm sorry hon.  I hope things start looking up for you real soon.  At least you found out now before any serious damage to your house was done - which may have resulted in someone getting hurt.

I am so sorry!  Hang in there!  We had some items stolen a few weeks ago at the beach and we got everything back - there are decent people out there who do the right thing.

OMG hun. I am so, so, so sorry that you are going through this. That is so terrifying. What is the next step with the house? I hope karma catches up with the person that broke in to your car. Did you ask if that Outback has any camera surveillance that shows your car getting broken into?

OMG -- who does that. i am SO sorry.  I am so sorry about your house and your break in.

Our house was broken into a while back. stole everything but the kitchen sink. i felt empty. violated. it was HORRIBLE.

I can only hope that they find these people that did it.
