Thank you for continuing the male stereotypes. Way to advance with the times. Just so you know, neither my dad or husband:
1. play golf,
2. wear ties to work,
3. have a recliner to lay in and watch TV all day, or
4. are bumbling idiots.
My dad is a good dad. He knows how to use a stove (cluthing pearls!) and so does my DH (clutching pearl earrings and necklace!). They don't feed the kids fast food when I'm gone.
Please point me in the direction of those cards. As a caveat, I'd also like it to be free of dogs and/or monkeys dressed like doctors. Listen, I'm all about the humor and having fun. But until you get those fugly flower bouquets off Mother's Day Cards and pictures of azzholes sleeping in their recliners all day watching football off Father's Day Cards, I continue my quest for you to get out of the effing 1950's.
Leave it to Beaver called, and they want their stereotypes back.
Re: Dear Greeting Card Companies:
I couldn't agree more. And if you don't mind I would like to add my own...
Not all Dad's are big and strong and take care of the house. My husband is in a wheelchair and very ill and poor Kate couldn't find any cards that in her words "look like Daddy in his chair".
So F-off greeting card companies for making my kid feel like her dad is somehow less of a father.
Phew, sorry about that. It's been a long day and I go through the "card" battle for every holiday.
I usually give cards that don't have pictures...unless of course I come across one that really does represent the person I'm giving it to.
Fortunately, my DH does wear ties once in a blue moon, plays AT golf every few years, is pretty balding, is mechanical when he feels like it, and doesn't cook often (although has a couple of "signature" dishes of his own). I can sometimes find a card that "kind of" represents him. I find more that represents my adult son...who is not a father! lol
I totally agree.
THIS THIS THIS!
