....bad news - it means "water". Oh well.
Oliver has a number of words (including "dada"), although very few of them sound much like what they're meant to. Today he was saying "mama" more clearly than he ever has and pointing at his cup. He did it like 5 separate times, so I think it's official. Mama = water.
Some day I'm gonna get a "mama"! But for now I think he just knows I'm always there when he needs me (and when he doesn't) so he has no need to call for me. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway! :P
Re: good news - he says mama...
I'm going to think he was calling "mama" to get YOUR attention and then pointing to the water as a nonverbal way to say water.
Does that make you feel better :-) ? He will say mama before you know it and it WILL mean you!
Aw, thanks. But nope - he was definitely saying "water". Goofy kid.

I think this might be true - my DS was the same way. He never said mama. Well, we went to the hospital to have DD, and he showed up for a visit (he was staying with my parents), and was calling mama and pointing to me, and he hasn't stopped saying it since. It was probably the first time he really wanted me and I wasn't around, so he learned to say it! (Oh and he learned to walk while we were in the hospital...DH and I think that he may need to move in with my parents since they manage to teach him more than we can!)
