We're getting new windows! (Sad that I am so excited by this.)

And due to a mistake by the college kid they had manning the booth at the local festival, we are getting all but our front bay replaced for $4500, including tax and installation. The company president came to the house personally, and is honoring their guy's mistake.

We were getting quotes of anywhere from $800-1200 per window-- our windows are really big. This is working out to $500 each installed.

I am really impressed by the company. I even checked online to make sure that the guy really was the owner. LOL They are a local company, expanding nationally, and winning awards for it, which is tough in this economy.

  • Great deal. I hope the poor kid didn't lose his job.

  • No, but it's going to be quite a while before he earns any commissions, from what I gathered.

  • I'll bet he won't make that mistake again!

  • I can almost guarantee that he won't-- DH lost a $4k commission when we were first married, and now he crosses every T and dots every i for every quote he sends out.

These are some really nice windows, too. It should make quite a difference in our heating and cooling bills compared to the 1959 jobbies that we currently have.

  • ok i feel bad saying this but we've replaced some windows in the last few years and about 5 of them cost 4500 and dh installed them himself.  there is no way i could fathom windowing my entire house for 4500 based on some poor schmucks mishap at a show was it?  just couldn't do it, unless the window's themselves were at a cost value of 4500 (vinyl?  wood?) and they were doing the install for free based on their mistake to make good.  if they are the nice windows you are describing the company could be losing thousands on the one job.

Yep. Even when I gave him exact window measurements. The owner is honoring the amount that he gave us.

And I don't feel bad at all. We declined the corrected quote, and that was it. The company president is the one who called us-- three times-- and said that he wanted to correct the situation. I don't know if he's eating costs on the windows or the installation, and it's not my issue.

I am now impressed enough by the product and the service that I will recommend this company to anyone who will ask. I think that's an admirable way to do business, and will probably make him money in the long run.

It's not as if I am getting 20 windows for that money-- we have a 1959 ranch house. We don't have anywhere near that number of windows.
