looks like I have another child in the 5th percentile for weight

C's 15 mth appt was today and he is is 21 lbs. That's what E was at hers.  Height was 30 inches.  Thankfully I am so done worrying about these numbers.

Probably the funny part is that he is 9 lbs away from weighing what his sister weighs!!

  • Funny..21 lbs doesn't sound that small to me. Ryan was only 17 lbs at his 12 month and now he is almost 4 and only 27 lbs. Granted none of those numbers are on the chart at all, but I thought 21lbs at 15 months sounds decent.

  • Sounds like Ryan is like my E!

  • I would love a 5% kid!  Both my kids are/were "failure to thrive".  DS's appointment is next week.  I am hoping for 21 pounds, but don't think he is there.  He is 75% for height.  DD is 4 and weighs about 28-29 pounds.

I try not to worry or make a big deal, sometimes I just get sick of feeding them though. I make them wonderful, tasty, healthy food and they don't eat.  The last 2 nights, neither one of them has even put a morsel of food to their lips.  I sometimes think, just feed them pop tarts, but they won't even eat THAT.

  • I do feel your pain though. Ryan's smallness makes him extra adorable, but it is puzzling. He is a great eater and both DH and myself are fairly tall..so it just makes no sense. I worry about him being a super short man....which I know things could be worse, but I can't help but worry about it...and by super short man, I mean barely 5 ft tall (which would suck).
  • My DD had her 15 month apt yesterday too and she was 21 lbs and 30 inches also.

At least I know I am not alone in this. They have never worried about Emily.  She doesn't eat alot.  I know this about her. It's not like she eats and eats and never gains. It's just that she doesn't eat alot.  I think C would be a little different just because he eats ALOT.

DS (2 1/2) has always been a HUGE eater and was on the charts for the first time at 18 months, before that he was always less than 3rd percentile. He was 16lbs at 1 year and I don't think he broke 20lbs until 18 months. Since then he has had a few pretty big growth spurts and although he still doesn't weigh very much he does not look any smaller than other kids his own age.?
  • DD1 didn't hit 20 lb until her 18 month appt. DD2 just had her 15m checkup and she's 30" and 20 lb. DD1 is only 9.5 lbs heavier (29.5 lb) and she's 3 and a half!

DS is 5th percentile for weight and seventh for height. He eats more than I do in a day most of the time. I think he's just going to be built like my DH and BIL, who were very slender until they hit their mid to late 20's.

  • David is a 5%er too. I think he's 26 lbs...  Maybe that's wishful thinking.

He dropped off the chart and the pedi said to give him Carnation Breakfast in his milk every morning and after dinner.
