I usually take a big green salad (usually a spinach salad with strawberries and poppyseed dressing) to pot lucks. It always gets eaten and I think people appreciate it because it balances out a lot of the heavier dishes you tend eat (at least in my family the macaroni and cheese, various cheesy casseroles, potato salads, fried things, etc. are heavily represented, LOL.)
I made a crock pot full of "Calico Beans". It is made with ground beef (I used ground turkey) and about 5-6 different kids of beans (including 2 cans of vegetarian Bush's baked beans. Also, a whole bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. It was a HUGE crockpot full and there was only one tiny dessert dish size left!
Re: Recommend food to bring to a pot luck BBQ
I like to bring watermelon to BBQ - or you could bring a dessert.
