Someone is already bringing a pasta salad, hamburgers and corn on the cob.

  • I usually take a big green salad (usually a spinach salad with strawberries and poppyseed dressing) to pot lucks. It always gets eaten and I think people appreciate it because it balances out a lot of the heavier dishes you tend eat (at least in my family the macaroni and cheese, various cheesy casseroles, potato salads, fried things, etc. are heavily represented, LOL.)
  • Fruit and fresh veggies. You could also do a lighter salad. This is one that I've been wanting to try.

  • Guacamole and nachos.
  • Baked beans?  You could stick them in the crock pot.  Let me know if you need a good recipe!
  • I made a crock pot full of "Calico Beans".  It is made with ground beef (I used ground turkey) and about 5-6 different kids of beans (including 2 cans of vegetarian Bush's baked beans.  Also, a whole bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.  It was a HUGE crockpot full and there was only one tiny dessert dish size left!

That black bean salad recipe looks so good!
I like to bring watermelon to BBQ - or you could bring a dessert.
  • I agree with a nice green salad.... it lightens up the traditionally heavy BBQ foods, and alot of people appreciate that .
