Extra tooth points appeared in front of my DS's molars

My DS is 19 months and has all teeth except 2nd molars which aren't bulging at all yet. He has had irritability, screaming when I leave him at night and the red teething rash on his cheeks for a few days now and I was checking this morning to see if his 2nd molars are starting and found two tooth points now present right in front of his top molars. Like a portion of an extra tooth is growing in front of them. I have never heard of this! I have a message into our pediatric dentist who he was going to see for the first time next month to see if I can bring him in sooner.

  • Hm, that sounds mysterious and painful! He already has his canines, right? Sorry if this is a silly question, but I thought I'd ask just to be sure. If I understand you correctly, he has his 4 incisors, 2 canines and 2 1st year molars for a total of 8 teeth on top, and you see tooth cusps between the canines and 1st year molars. I have no idea what that could be, sorry!
