Gift idea for niece entering middle school

My niece, who I am close with, is 'graduating' from 5th grade this week. Since her grandmother is in town, my sister is having a family cookout. She does not see this as a gift giving event, but I wanted to give my niece a little something as she has worked really hard and done great this year. Any suggestions? My sister mentioned something for her locker- but what? Maybe a mirror? I am feeling very old and out of touch!

Does she have her ears pierced?  I gave my niece little gold hoops for her conformation and she loved them (She is 8).  Otherwise, I might look for a special necklace.  Macy's often has that stuff for 50% off.

I like the jewelry idea. Does she have an iPod? ITunes cards are always a hit with that age group, and maybe a little lip gloss set or something.

Yeah, I don't get the views.  Totally not an exciting post. I like the earring and lip gloss ideas. She does have an iTouch, so that would work too.

I like the earrings idea. Itunes are always a good gift. Maybe a Visa g.c so she can shop or go to the movies, whatever she chooses. My bff's son likes getting them so when he goes to the movies he can get what he wants and not have his mom *** about what it costs for all the food he wants! lol!!

For her locker though, a mirror, organizer and that's all I can think of for a locker. I've been out of school too long!
