Co worker's son had heart transplant surgery

I have a co worker that has a son that is 8 months old. He just had heart transplant surgery yesterday. I can happily say that today he is recovering well, and of course I hope he continues to do well.

My question is- I would like to do something for the family, but I dont know what. I probably wont see my co worker since he is staying with his son until he recovers, so he wont be in work. It will have to be something I can mail. I was thinking maybe a gift card to a restaurant near the hospital so they can get some food. But what else could I get them, and thier son? Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks!

Re: Co worker's son had heart transplant surgery

  • A heart transplant at 8 months???  Oh my.  I can't think of a better gift idea than what you already came up with.
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
    LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
    LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
    Life is beautiful!

  • A GC to a place near the hospital is a good idea.  I would also suggest a donation to the American Heart Association/Or transplant whatever/ whatever organization/s made it possible for their son.

I will say a prayer that he is healed!
