We used a local photographer for T's newborn pictures. While they turned out great....we ended up spending a LOT of money. I am thinking that one of the chain photography studios would be cheaper, and hopefully still good quality.
If you used a chain that you were pleased with, where did you go?
Thanks!
Re: Where do you get your LO's pictures taken?
I usually try to find people who are getting experience to become photographers. They usually have cheaper prices, but still are more personal that the normal "chain" photog.

I went with Portrait Innovations and really liked them. What I liked initially was the price. No sitting fee, and they had a package for $9.99 which included a ton of prints with 1 pose. I ended up getting a ton more pictured then the 1 pose, but I know next time to go in with a little more "no" power LOL. They also have an option of getting a CD of all your pictures which I really wanted.
I liked how they did a clothing change and you could opt to have as many people in the poses as you wanted. They did 4 different poses/backgrounds. They also take pictures with a camera as opposed to a portrait type camera so the photographer can move around and get the shots she wants and can interact with the baby more.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

we usually go to sears...although, I have done a private photographer a few times. to be honest, we paid a lot and the pic quality was about the same. sears can be cheap but like krissy says, you need to stick with one pose and that is sometimes hard.
i haven't tried portrait innovations, but I want to try them.
I also tried to do 4m, 6m, 9m and 12m (but did 14m instead)...
even with all that, i spent a ton even at sears and my DH says we have a shrine to DS.
i can't imagine people who want to go every month...
Ditto, I've always been happy with their work. It's basic, but nice and cheap.
I used Portrait Innovations for his 6 mo pictures and I was generally happy with them. I spent more with them then I did with a semi-prof photog for his 3 mo pics. (She takes pics as a hobby, but her work is that of a prof.). I'm not sure what I'm going to do for 1 yr yet...
