Car interior for kids

Anyone have cloth interior in their car? If so, what color and are you satisfied with it? How does it stand up?  We would like to get a car with tan leather interior but it is a couple of thousand dollars more. I now have a black leather car  & black leather in the summer is HOT. For a few thousand less we are debating between a light color cloth or black color cloth. Any suggestions? Thoughts? BTW we are looking at a Honda CR-V and a Subaru Forrester.

Re: Car interior for kids

  • Mine are still in carseats and don't eat/drink a TON in the car, but my dark gray cloth is awesome. It doesn't get hot even though it's dark, and really hides stains well.

  • I had a 2005 CRV with dk gray cloth....I loved it, no issues with messes/kids (had it til DD1 was over 1).

I have tan leather now and it's still hot...I don't think leather color makes all that much difference. ;)

  • One of our cars has tan cloth and I put plastic seat protectors on the back of the front seats so DD's shoes won't mark the back of the seat.

  • I have light grey and it looks awful if something gets on it. DH has black and I think that will be better, but I'm not sure. Regardless, I'd get a seat protector over the cloth to help.

  • We have dark gray cloth and it has held up really well.  I carpool kids all the time and everyone eats and drinks in my car.  It usually looks a mess but cleans up nicely.  :)

  • I have tan cloth interior.  My car is a 2000, and while my child is young, so it hasn't been subjected to that yet, even after ten years it looks pretty good!
