s/o Photo session - What age?

I want to get a pro photo session done of the family (and if Joseys was anywhere near me - she'd be my #1 choice!). What age would be good to do this? I anticipate that I can't get my DH to cooperate for this more than once every 10 years or so, so what age is a good one for the kids so that they cooperate? DS is 4 and DD will be 2 soon.

TIA!

Re: s/o Photo session - What age?

  • DD's 2 year old photos were the first ones where we had a photog come and follow her around for a bit.  We got a TON of cute ones from that.  And, now as an almost 5 year old, I could see getting another good session in.  So, I would say after your DD turns 2 would probably be worth it.
  • I think any time is a good time, especially if you don't have any recent family photos.  If you do have pro family photos, I think every couple years is good.  Usually after about age 2 people start stretching their sessions out more and don't always do it every year.

At ages 4 and 2, you would really see their little personalities shine!  I wouldn't worry about their ages as far as how well-behaved they will be.  I always tell parents right before the session that my only rule is:  "They don't have to behave, they just have to have fun."  I really don't care if the kids say please and thank you.  All I care is that I get some good shots, and if everyone is having fun, it is impossible not to. • We had family photos done with DD when she was 9 months and just over 2.  She was also in some of my maternity photos when she was just about 4.

    All were good sessions.

  • I wouldn't trade the 6mo photos that I have of my little boy for the world. I think anytime is good.
