If you're looking for a resonably priced cake I make special occassion cakes from my home. I'm a graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia's Baking & Pastry program but I'm an accountant fulltime and do this on the side (I live right outside of the city in East Norriton). I'm not really sure of good bakeries in Philly for baby shower cakes but if you can't find anything reasonably priced I am available for hire! You can see some of my cakes by searching "cakes by tracy" on facebook (since I do this from home and business just recently started picking up I don't have a website yet).

I don't know what part of Philly you are in, but everytime I amback in the NorthEast, I stop in Hesh's. They have the best chocolate chip pound cake in the world! It is on Castor Avenue. Most of my family still uses them for all their cake needs.
Re: bakeries in Philly
IMO Velvey sky is just ok. I would recommend Philly Cupcake at 12th & Chestnut or the Flying Monkey in the Reading Terminal
