Get creative with me....B/G 1st Birthday

I'm struggling with a 'theme.'  It doesn't need to be overpowering, but I need something to help me with colors/cake/food/etc. 

Party will be Labor Day weekend (Saturday).

Probably evening- 5 p.m. til whenever, probably a cookout, big family gathering/staying late...at our home.  

B/G twins....about 40 adult guests plus about 15 kids (including ours) 

The two I've come up with are Bugs/Butterflies, or Sea creatures (fish/octopus/starfish - and have the kiddie pools out).  

 But I'm just not sold on either idea.....so share some other ideas or run with what I've got!

Since it is the end of summer, and a pool will be involved, I like the deep sea creature theme... very cute.  I found this for some inspiration.

I'm not creative, which is why we did blue/pink-they have the 1st birthday All-Star for boys (we like sports), and 1st birthday pink princess for girls.   We did separate cakes to go along with it, and that was about it. Our twins share the same birthdate, but in 07.

Im at a loss for this too... but my guys are in october.  I LOVE the bug and butterfly idea.  and the pool with sea creatures is FUN.  i like both ideas.  very summery!
