Is this a RF carseat issue?

I'm way behind on catching up with posts, so I hope this isn't a near duplicate of a recent one...

Anyway, one DD is being extremely resistant to getting into her RF convertible seat.  She arches her back or stands or slides way down when I try to strap her in.  Do you think that this is an issue with her being RF?  I wanted to keep DDs RF at least a while longer, but this is getting ridiculous.

I know I should be able to manage this since I'm bigger than her, but she is just so strong, and it takes forever to get her to cooperate when she gets it in her mind that she doesn't want to get into her seat, even with the distraction of a favorite toy...

  • I would say it is more of a not wanting to get in the car issue. E does that same back arch thing, when he doesnt want to go somewhere. He is perfectly fine eventually, it is just until he is buckled

ditto, i think it is just more of a being stubborn thing, like she would prob do it if FF too. the boys have both gone through phases of doing that all the time, and i tell ya.i understand! that is such a pain!! to where i am throwing my body on top of them while trying to buckle them in :P it seems as though they have finally stopped doing it recently, and they still seem pretty satisfied being RF ;)

  • Yeah, times like these I wish I didn't have a minivan.  They are just too high up for me to put myself over them!

"Glad" to hear that she'd likely do the same if FF...  We'll keep her RF and hope she does it less often than usual!

  • I think it's just a car seat issue. Don't let her win. DD does this. I just calmly explain that I know she doesn't like it, but that we have to go somewhere and her being difficult isn't going to change whether or not we go....while I continue to strap her in.

  • I can't let her win when we are leaving daycare.  Unless she wants to stay there indefinitely. :)  And telling her what is going on...lol, this is almost exactly what I told her yesterday.  I just wish it was easier to "hold her down" while having to reach up to get her situated!  (Sometimes I'll kinda climb into the minivan, but I'm not too stable with that, so it doesn't help much.)
