I realize this is random, but I'm watching Toy Story 1 with DS and just noticed they put the baby sister in the front passenger seat in the car..... Odd. That's a bad example for kids to see.

I posted about seeing a kid in a convertible seat on the front and was schooled that it's not illegal. Unsafe but not illegal. Idk though. Never paid attention in the movie.

Toy Story is a good 12 yrs old, right?  Not saying there weren't infant seats then, but I'm sure it wasn't as as hyped as it is now.

It actually depends on your state.  I believe, in Texas it is illegal unless it's a pick-up truck without a back seat.  In fact, by law, children under the age of 12 must ride in the backseat in Texas.  Children under 4 must be in a carseat and children under 1 or under 20 lbs (as in they must meet both criteria) must ride facing backwards in a carseat.
