I forgot to include this in my list from the other day.  I saved an empty Gatorade bottle, quart size I think.  Rinsed it well, peeled the label off, and once it was dry poured in some dried beans.  DD loves to shake it and make lots of noise!  She gets so enthused that she bonks herself in the head.

I copied DD's day care, which had some quart size and some 20 oz bottles filled with various pretty bits and noise makers - beads, buttons, metallic garland, etc.

Super easy, cheap, and even green since you reuse the bottle.

Just make sure he/she can't get the lid off!  That could be a huge mess... not to mention a choking hazard!!

Excellent point!  Right now it is screwed on tightly, and she is not strong enough or coordinated enough to get it off, but we will keep an eye on that.
