New to The Bump

Ovulation Test & Pregnancy

So here is the situation. I have been taking ovulation tests per the doctor's orders. My last one was on Wednesday with no Smile telling me that I am going to ovulate within the next 24-48 hours. Thursday I didn't take one and also did the deed that night. So this morning I take the test and I get the little smiling face on the ovulation test...so what are my chances here?

My thought is that the sperm would have to make it those 48 hours and I would have to ovulate within the next 24 in order for there to be a chance...

Thoughts, expert opinions, etc?

Re: Ovulation Test & Pregnancy

  • I've seen charts where people have sex 4 days before they ovulate and get pregnant. You can have a fertile window of up to 5 days, though 3-4 days is more likely.

Please consider reading the book Taking Charge of your Fertility and/or taking the tutorials on Fertilityfriend.com. You can sign up by clicking on the ticker in my siggy.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

  • The smiley face means you're likely to ovulate tomorrow. So get cracking.

Sperm can live up to a few days inside you under ideal conditions.

  • When we were TTC my OB told us sperm can live up to 5 days and fertilize an egg anytime within that window. That being said we had an in home insemination the day i got the positive o test and for two days after that...and ended up with a due date that indicates like two days after the last insemination....
