home from cerclage surgery!

I'm home!! The doctor was able to put in the transabdominal cerclage as planned (laparoscopically) and was very pleased.  I was a little nervous since it's experimental but he is amazing at what he does.  I'm at home now (2nd day) and on pain meds but doing well. :)

We are allowed to TTC anytime but will wait a couple of months to recover and enjoy summer (since we were locked in all last year!) :)

If anyone ever has any questions feel free to email me

Laparscopic TACs get a bad rap but we're trusting our doctor. I'm tempted to start some kind of blog or site about our experience .

  • I'm glad that it went well! You should start a blog.  I am interested in reading about your experience.

If you don't mind me asking - did your insurance cover all/any of the TAC?

They told me they never have problems getting them covered (probably because cerclage surgery is much cheaper than NICU baby!).  I honestly didn't double check or into what % but I have great coverage.

  • Glad your home & doing well :+)
  • Congrats! Glad it went well! I never heard of doing a cerclage before getting pregnant... Definitely enjoy your summer!

  • I'm glad it went so well! A TAC is most definitely something I plan to look into if DH and I ever decide to TTC again. A friend of mine had one done after losing both her twins when they were born at 24 weeks, and this past week she delivered a healthy, full-term boy.

My doctor couldn't do them previously but now he can because he uses the Da Vinci robot.  There are advantages and disadvantages but he's a leading expert and thinks his is the way of the future. :) I loved that I didn't have to have a c-section (major surgery) when 12-13 weeks pregnant.
