Good news is the babies looked good on u/s today. The girl is 2lb 8oz and the boy is 2lb 11oz! The bad news is, my cervix has shortened. Now, I wasn't given numbers...I don't know what it was last month (they always just told me long) and I'm not sure of the exact length right now (from the multiple measurements I saw, I think it's between 2.5 and 2.8). Good news also is, it's still closed. Anyways...I immediately thought I had bought myself bedrest, but the dr. didnt seem super concerned yet. She put in a pessary to help relieve some pressure because the girl is very very low. I do get BH and did with DS too - I have an irritable uterus. She said the first step was to relieve some pressure and see how my cervix looks in a week. She just told me to take it easier at home. I can still work (my hours have already been significantly reduced and I'm only allowed to sit).
I'm definitely going to take it easy and lay down as much as possible. Is there anything else I should be doing? Any suggestions? Any similar stories with good outcomes? I'm kind of freaking out a little.
Re: Shortening cervix (similar to ougrad's post)
I had shortening cervix and was on bedrest from week 23-33. I went into labor naturally at 36 weeks 4 days...
Just take it easy...
GL.....I'm laying down as we speak. Hopefully we'll both be good next week when we go to the dr. : )
Great sized babies!
Just to give you a referrence point - moms carrying twins are expected to have their cervix shorten by 1-2 mm / week. So if it shortens by more than this, you might have tighter restrictions; if it is stable you should be just fine.
Hope the pessary works. Keep us updated!!!!

My cervix had shortened to 2.6 at my 26 week appt so they started checking me every 2 weeks. Last week it was at 2.8 so they're not conerned at all. Definitely take it easy! I
