NBR: help with DHs birthday

So the other day I decided to throw DH a suprise birthday party since he will be 35 this year and I have never heard of him talk about birthday parties.  Well so here is my dilemma: 1. how do I get him out of the house since he is always attached to DD and myself on his day off(my parents do live close by but DH doesnt have a close guy friend I could get involved) and 2. what should I decorate with since it will have to be quick decorating.

The only thing I can think of so far is to get him to run over to my parents for something.  That would atleast give me 30minutes.

    Why dont you send him on "errands" with DD to get them both out and then you can decorate the house.  You can have your parents bring a cake and then just be ready for when they come home.

    Have him go food shopping or Target.  Something you know could take awhile.
