Lanolin on Rectal Thermometer for baby?

I don't own petroleum jelly, but I read that you should put it on a rectal thermometer before using it on baby.

Could I use Lansinoh instead?

    Don't see why not... maybe someone else will chime in? But if it's ok to be on your nipple/babies mouth, then...

    That was my thought, but I have no science to back it up.  ;)

    Nevermind.  Directions said to use "water-based lubricant jelly"... aka Astroglide - LOL.

    Good news is LO doesn't have a fever  Yes

    yeah, i think that lanolin would actually make it more difficult to insert, as it is kinda sticky.
