Pregnant after a Loss

How many onesies?

Taking inventory -

 - 5 short sleeve newborn onesies

 - 3 long sleeve newborn onesies

 - 6 long sleeve 0-3 onesies

 - 8 short sleeve 0-3 onesies plus 5 short sleeve side snap shirts

And I have about 10 newborn outfits and 20 0-3 outfits (some dresses, some just cotton short/onesie/pants sets).

Enough? I have no clue!

I would think so.  Apparently, they grow out of the "newborn" clothing so fast, it should still look new when you are done with it.  I have heard that the 3-6 month size gets used before 3 mo and after 6 as well and is more usefull.

  • I think that is PLENTY.  I had a lot for DD when she was born (middle of winter in the northeast) and some of the packages I never opened and took back.  I just never used onesies.... I rotated about 5 onesies that I used for layering, other than that, I just put both of my kids in jumper outfits.  I know other people swear you can't have enough onesies... I never have figured out why.
  • I returned all the things that I got in newborn size only because I think it said something like from 5-8lbs and I kept more of the 0-3 month clothes. I only have 3 of the side snap shirts but I will be getting a few more only because Hawaii is hot and humid and so I am pretty much going to be leaving LO in a diaper and shirt, especially until his cord falls off. Other than that, I am just planning on seeing how big LO grows. I returned alot of things and figured that it I need more clothes then I can use the gift cards to buy it. I would hate to have him outgrown things so fast that he never gets to wear any of it.

ETA: I am only scared to have too much clothes too because I know babies grow at different rates. DH's friend's son is 9 months and weighs 28-29lbs so he is already in 18 month clothes whereas my eyebrow lady's son is 20 months old and only 23lbs...

  • If you have the Gerber onesies the newborn ones may never fit.  My daughter was an average 7 lb 10oz and they were too small almost immediately- the Gerber ones run small!  The Carters on the other hand run big.  Honestly, we went through onesies like crazy with my daughter, but she was a winter baby so maybe we used more.  Onesies were something that you can never have too many of, you might a few more 0-3 unless you have a tiny little peanut and then you'll need more newborn.  You'll be amazed how many you go through!  I also loved the gown sleepers, from Gap they are really light and have elastic at the bottom and very easy to change diapers in the middle of the night.  The side snap shirts were great until the belly button heals.  Sorry- I'm rambling- hope this helps!!
  • If you don't plan on swaddling, you might want a few long sleep side snap shirts - the kind with the hand mitts. DD was horrible about scratching her face in the beginning and she would NOT let us swaddle her arms so she was swaddled underarms down and then wore a long sleep tshirt or onesie with mitts.

I think you have enough of the others, especially if you plan on having LO sleep in somthing other than the onesies. DD was born in winter so she had to wear a tshirt under her sleepers for a while, and since I BF she had blow outs sometimes.
