We are having a big BBQ this weekend. It is a family bbq and I am doing all the basics, and everyone else is bringing something (salads, chips, fruit, etc) - so there will be potato salad, mac salad, pasta salad, fancy dips with chips, veggies, fruits, beans, etc - I would say 15 people are bringing a side/etc
I am providing all the hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken.
My mom has some kind of crazy way of figuring out how much to get, but I always end up with a crazy amount of extras. And while I would rather have extra than not enough, I would rather have only a bit extra KWIM?
So, it is a total of 50 people, here is the breakdown to make it easier
50 People
29 Adults
7 Children under 5 yrs old
5 Children 5-10 yrs old
9 Children 10+ yrs old (most are actually teens)
So - how many hamburgers/hotdogs would you get? Do you have a way of figuring out how much per person?
The BBQ starts at 2 and could go all day.
Thanks
Re: NSAIFR - How many burgers & Hotdogs for a BBQ
We had one for memorial day and we had one burger for each adult plus 10 extra and we had 2 hotdogs per adult plus 10 extra. That day we decided to take a head count for 4th of July so we know already what we need.
Maybe you can email me everyone and ask?
I would do one burger for each adult and one for each child over 10 plus about 10 extra. I would have enough for one hot dog for each person (some adults would eat 2, but then prob wouldn't eat a burger and then most kids like hot dogs). Hot dogs are relatively cheap so I would have plenty extras, but not cook them. That way you can cook them if you need to, but if not, they can just go in the freezer. Especially with all of the sides....I think that would be plenty.
That being said, I always do way too much and have a ton of leftovers.
