With my oldest DD, we literally cut off the nipple of the pacifier. She tried for about a day to put it in her mouth and it just kept falling out. She figured it out quickly and only fussed for a day or two without it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I will be doing the same thing with my youngest in a couple weeks.
