When did you cut back on nursing?

H still nurses 6-7 times a day (or gets bottles if he doesn't feel like nursing that day).  A book my pedi gave me said he may cut back to 3-4 nursing sessions/bottles by the time he's 9 months old and said they want him to get at least 16oz. 

At this point he's getting over 30oz when he take a bottle and probably the same when he nurses.  Did you just follow your LO's cues or did you try to drop a session/bottle?

i followed DD's cues. we just dropped from 6 nursings/bottles to 5. she was getting 3 bottles and nursing 3x a day on workdays. but she wasnt' drinking much from her bottles, so we just do two now, which is what we were doing on the weekends. she was nursing 6x a day since she was around 6 months old. even now w/ 5 feedings a day, i feel like sometimes it's more than she wants. she hardly ever finishes a bottle (6 oz) and nurses for shorter periods of time than she used to. she used to nurse 6-8 min, now it's 5-6 min (except her bedtime nursing). i have no idea how many oz total she's getting, but it's probably around 20 a day, maybe less. but she's growing fine, has wet diapers, so i'm not worried and neither is the pedi.

When we started doing 3 solid meals per day, which was right around 9 months, DD was down to 4 nursing sessions during the day (wake up, before morning nap, before afternoon nap, and bedtime).  She still nurse 2x at night though.  She's on the lighter side, so I probably won't cut out the night feeds until she starts whole milk and I can be sure how much milk she is consuming.

DD just cut back from 6 to 5x/day around 7.5 months when we added the 2nd solid meal. She's also gotten quicker with her nursing sessions. During the day she nurses for about 6-9min and first thing in the morning it's about 15min, and her last session before bed is about 15-20min. We're planning on adding the 3rd solid meal around 9 months so she might drop down to 4 sessions when we do that. She's never taken a bottle so I really have no idea how much she's getting. But she's growing fine, and has enough wet diapers each day, and our Dr. is fine with the way she's growing so I'm happy with that. And she has no trouble letting me know when she's full and when she wants more!!
