Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Flying with LO alone

First a little vent/backstory: It is looking like DS and I may be tagging along with DH on an upcoming business trip.  His company is very vague about these things until pretty much the day before so we don't know exactly when or for how many weeks he will be gone but it could be as early as the end of this week.  The trip will likely be several weeks if not longer possibly the entire summer.  This is the part that ticks me off.  He pretty much has to jump when they say jump and they may not even be ready to work on his project when he arrives but he will have to stay until they are and then we don't know how long it will take to get everything taken care of because the management of his company and the suppliers company have their thumbs up their butts!!!!  The worst part is that all of this can be accomplished with him staying right where he is or perhaps one or two trips that last only a few days.  His company feels that it looks better if they just throw $$ at the problem by sending people to work on site.  Grrrrr!!!

Okay so here is my actual question:  What tips do you have for traveling with a six month old?  I want to take as little gear as possible since I will have to do one leg of the trip on my own and just can't haul that much alone.  I hope to fly out with DH but we will not stay the entire time so I'll have to come back on my own. I am nursing so we don't have to bring bottles, etc. and the place we are staying has Pack n' Plays for cribs so that at least is taken care of.  I am worried about both under and over packing.

Re: Flying with LO alone

  • when i travel with DS i checked carseat at check in and brought stroller and diaper bag to gate.  airline checked stroller at gate.  i bought lots of toys and stuff to entertain DS on the plane in the diaper bag.  He nursed during take off and landing and i also tried to get him to nap on each plane ride too.  GL.
