I'm officially out of a job

I was pink slipped a few weeks back (as were all non-tenured teachers in my district) and just got a call today that I am NOT being brought back via Recall process.

I NEED to make some money. I don't know what to do. I'd LOVE to just be a SAHM, but it doesn't pay the mortgage.

Hugs. My DH ended up being a SAHD & student b/c of this stupid economy, & I was supposed to be the one staying home. So I totally feel you on that. It sucks.

Do you have any leads? Maybe you could do online tutoring or something?

The same thing happened to me when I started teaching (got both the March and May 15th notice), but miraculously I got called back over the summer.  I recognize that times are different now though...Have you applied to other districts?  Are you registered to sub in other several districts?

I am so sorry! I am a teacher too and waiting in limbo right now to see if I will have a job next year. I hope things work out for you, whether it be subbing or finding a new teaching job! Good luck!

I am so, so sorry.  Being a teacher in NJ is really hard right now.  Are you certified anywhere else?  Is your union helping?  I know Haddonfield is hiring, as is Washington Township.  Our union has been sending us info on districts that are hiring and how to get other certs.  I will pass any openings I see along to you.  Again, I am sorry.
