TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Oh gawd... Zoey, NO!!!!

Umm, so DH and I apparently go on auto-drive when we pick up dog food and did notice that we never switched from puppy to adult formula (she's 18 months-ish).

We finally woke up, bought the adult brand (ok, we didn't actually wake up... just grabbed the wrong bag) and emptied it into our giant 'dog food' bin. 30 seconds later our non-food-driven dog has her head shoved halfway down the bin. Seriously, I could only see the base of her ears and beginning of the jawline. So I guess she DOES like dog food, just not bland puppy formula.

So she likes the new food... it does not like her.

The gas was so bad it stunk up the basement - WHICH WE WERE PAINTING. We could smell it above the paint fumes! Last night was the first time since we got her that she almost had to sleep on the floor.

Dear god let her adjust soon. It's not just often... it's toxic!

Re: Oh gawd... Zoey, NO!!!!

  • Ugh!  We went through that when we switched Otis to the organic stuff.  And it never stopped.  So, we may be killing our dog with the normal stuff, but damned if our house isn't a whole lot more habitable now.

  • Hee. This reminds me of yesterday. DH and I were driving home from the beach and he turns to me and says, "Ugh, honey, did you fart? That's so disgusting!" But I was innocent! It was the sleeping mongrel in the back seat.

  • Well, sh!t, then I'm in for it. Scout is so gassy from her puppy food, I can hardly stand it.

Colinda was talking about dog food w/ probiotics, and how much it helped their pooch. I am looking into that right now. Maybe try that?

    Dude... you are screwed. SCREWED!

  • My BFF was saying good things about probiotics for her dog's gas.  I thought Boxers were just supposed to be stinky.  Good luck!

  • LOL!  I'm sorry.  I'd try mixing 1/2 & 1/2 until she adjusts.  Pepper went through this many moons ago when we switched her.

  • I think mixing in canned pumpkin is supposed to help too (not the pie filling stuff) if you are out of her original food.

  • It is always good to slowly transition their foods.  So, I will say it too, try mixing it for a bit so tha she has time to adjust.

And just for the record... I will be naming my future child Zoe.  I know that I will always think of your dog.   Stick out tongue

I wanted "Zoe" for a girls name. DH is is veeeery 'traditional' (think Mary, Jennifer, Michelle, etc.) so we compromised on Zoey for the dog.
