real housewives bankruptcy! eeek

https://gothamist.com/2010/06/05/real_housewife_10mm_in_debt_banks_r.php

WTH?  I thought their income would have been more than that!  We live in the area (kind of) and make much more than that and I would NEVER drop $2K on a shopping trip and I cannot afford that house or many of the single family detached homes in the area (well, maybe in jersey... but in jersey you'll pay $10K in property tax.).

jaw on the floor.

  • maybe she thought they'd make money off her daughter's "modeling career"  ???
  • This is EXACTLY why I have learned to never make assumptions about how people live and what they have. Most people tend to live outside of their means - no matter how much money it appears they have. ESPECIALLY narcissistic people like this!

  • What is the 10000 in family assistance they get per month? There is something fishy there.
  • I am not surprised at all, in fact, I was kind of expecting something like this. So many people live way, way beyond their means. Good luck paying the $11m in debts!
  • dh makes that much and we are debating if I can take a year off if work with this baby much less a 2k shopping spree!

yeah, the family contributions is sketchy???

  • they probably thought if they could just put on the rich act for a bit, got themselved on tv, then the money would follow. good plan.
  • yah, we make more than $79k/year and would never even think about buying a million dollar home.  hmm... I'm surprised a bank would give them a home loan.  Wait, no I'm not.

  • We make way more then that as well and we would never be approved for that kind of loan despite our stellar credit!  How the hell do you live that far outside of your means!  I mean that is really far out there!

  • Yikes.... They make less than DH and I, yet go on a $2,000 shopping spree and have a $1200 car payment?  Forget the $1M vacation houses, really at sub $100K a year, you should probably focus on your regular, average house, even with the "family" assistance.
