Two Under 2

hello and a ?

hello ladies. I have been lurking for a bit and you all are awesome. kudos to all currently rocking with 2u2. our sweet little ones will be 17 months apart. i knwo the carrier question is asked a lot but I am hoping for some input. I have it narrowed to a moby or ergo. (i used a bjorn a lot with ds but it is not the easiest to move around in and i am nervous about chasing him with a babe in there). which is better with a newborn? and which would be good to move a lot in? (are there others people love that you would recommend?) Thank you!

Re: hello and a ?

  • My two boys are 15 months apart and I have both of those carriers.  I love them both, but used the Moby more in the newborn stage. Between the two though I'd go with the Ergo, the new ones have a much better insert for the newborn stage (mine's an older hand me down). You will use the Ergo much longer then the Moby.  My youngest is 15 pounds and almost 6 months old, and I rarely use the Moby anymore.  I can still use it for my 30 pound toddler as well.  I like being able to get him in and out of the Ergo easier, and it's much cooler.
  • Welcome! My girls will be just under 17 months apart!

I had the Moby with DD #1 and I liked it for just casual use around the house or while we were out, but I didn't use it past 4-5 months (when she got to around 15lbs.) and it's been sitting in her closet ever since.

We're getting an Ergo this time around since I plan to wear this baby a lot more and it seems more practical and like it would get used a lot longer.

  • Hi!  Our LOs will be just under 18 months apart!  I used a sleepy wrap with LO#1 which is really very similar to the Moby and loved it.  I found the baby bjorn very uncomfortable and ended up returning it.  I cannot say enough about the comfort of the sleepy wrap/moby!  I fully intend on using it again with LO#2.  HTH!
  • thanks ladies! do you feel like you can move well with the ergo (that is really my complaint about the bjorn) and do you feel like your newborn is secure? Is it worth it just to get both?
  • hi! I asked about carriers and hope this helps. Sorry it's not clicky; don't know how.

  • Sorry to send mixed messages here.

I felt my newborn was more secure in the Moby, but I had a 5 year old Ergo without the new newborn insert.  I've heard the new Heart to Heart insert makes a huge difference.

If I had it to do over again and had to buy them.  I'd buy a new Ergo, and try either buy a used Moby, or make one myself. The Ergo is something you will use a lot longer then the Moby. I doubt I will use mine again now that my little one is 6 months old. We use the Ergo and a ring sling daily. Yesterday we went to the aquarium and my DH used the Ergo to tote my 30 pound 3 ft toddler in it,  then when he wanted to walk around, I wore it and my little one napped in it.  I couldn't do that with the Moby.

  • thank you , that is super helpful!
