I tend to lurk because I?m still trying to get a feel for the board, but I have a question & I hope someone can point me in the right direction. This is (was) my first pregnancy.
My period was 5 days late; I took a home pregnancy test & got a BFP; on Monday I called my ob/gyn, she gave me an appoint for 6/16. DH & I had sex last night; this morning in work I started spotting?at first it looked like my usual day before the period spotting, then there was a little bit of blood, then it went back to spotting (sorry if TMI). Now I?m really nervous, I?m kind of thinking maybe it was a chemical pregnancy (maybe I should stay off the google). Probably a good idea to go ahead & call my ob/gyn instead of waiting until I see her on 6/16, yes?
Thanks in advance, ladies. Let me know if I should XP on TTC after 35.
Re: Possible chemical pregnancy?
could it be a CP? certainly, and if it is, my deepest apologies. I'm so sorry.
But you also might just have irritated your cervix during sex.
Honestly, if I were you (and i'm a little crazy - infertility does that to you), I would call and request 2 blood test 3 days apart. Tell them what happened, and that you just want to make sure everything is fine.

Thanks GenRN45. I?m at work feeling really upset, and my first thought was to call my doctor. But then I?m afraid of her office thinking I?m that crazy first-timer (ugh, I?m such a people pleaser!), but she's there for a reason, right? I guess I needed a push. Thanks again.
and yes, stay away from Dr Google. He is NOT your friend when you are pregnant.

Don't EVER worry about feeling like a crazy first timer! If you're worried, call, that's what they are there for! It's better than the stress of keeping it in.
And stay away from Google! Definitely not your friend when it comes to any medical question

I found out I was preg. at what I now know to be 7 weeks, the next several days I had spotting and cramping and even a rather large clot. I was a nervous wreck - especially because I felt to guilty because I didn't want to be preg (I already have a 6 & 9 year old and am pushing 39). I didn't have decent insurance to go to the hospital and talked to a midwife that told me I was probably miscarrying - well the baby is doing well and we're almost to our 3rd trimester!
If I can recall correctly - I think I had some spotting with the other pregnancies as well - actually we were off by a month with #1 because I had what I thought was a full period when I was 1 month preg after a mountain bike accident.
T & P that all will be well - just don't borrow trouble - you don't need the added stress!
If it makes you feel any better, I had a chemical pregnancy and it was waaaaay more than spotting. I was in Europe on a belated honeymoon, so I remember wishing that I was just spotting because it meant that I may not be miscarrying. But it was a constant, yucky, heavy flow of blood for 7 straight days (no cramping for some reason) -- yes, some nasty clots, too. I knew by the end of the honeymoon for certain that I had miscarried. I kept going to internet cafes to look up miscarriage symptoms and it seemed that the women who were spotting were in good shape, but people with constant blood-- not a good sign. I saw my OB when I got home and my hormone levels were in the single digits....such a bummer.
So, I have hope for you that this is just some normal spotting and cramping! Please keep us posted!!!
BTW....just 7 weeks after that heartbreaking chemical pregnancy, I got pregnant with my now 2 year old!!
