Daily headaches?

I've had a headache every single day since LO was born.  Usually, they're in the evening and feel like someone is jamming a hot poker in my temple or my eye.  Sometimes I get them in the morning, too, and often get them right when DS starts to BF. I looked up headaches online and it sounds like they aren't a worry unless you get blurred vision, nausea, etc (as in not a stroke or aneurism (sp?) risk).

Does anyone else get this or have any insight?

Re: Daily headaches?

  • Are you drinking enough water? It could be dehydration.

Did you have an epidural or spinal?  Is it worse when  you sit up?

One of my close friends is a nurse and she always tells people to drink a whole glass of water when they feel a headache coming on.

I've gotten headaches my entire life, and they actually went away during pregnancy.  Well, the past 2 days, they're back.  I probably need to drink more water...

I carry all my tension in my neck and shoulders, so that's what causes my headaches.  No suggestions, but I feel your pain :(

  • Try taking a really long hot shower, close all of the doors and don't turn on the exhaust fan so you are breathing in the steam. If the headache goes away quickly after that, it is likely dehydration. I get these daily and it's the quickest solution that I have found, though I know finding time for a long shower is almost impossible with LO.

If the problem is dehydration, wouldn't drinking a glass or two of water do the trick instead of a long shower?? Hot showers can actually make you dehydrated. It's like being in a sauna...

  • I've had awful headaches lately due to the weather.  Pollen counts are the worst ever on record this year.  PP hormones & dehydration are definitely possibilities too.  Have you checked w/your OB?

  • Thanks, Bumpies. I'll bet you're all right about dehydration. I really don't drink enough water and I can feel my mouth go dry while LO nurses.  Thanks for the advice!!
