I've been back to working 40hours/week since LO was 6 weeks old. I pump 2-3 times a day at work, and once at home on an average day. Recently I've felt as though it's getting harder to keep up with her.. she's eating more, and we've had to use quite a bit of our frozen stash. And I feel as though pumping doesn't express as much as it used to. I'd like to BF for as long as possible, and hold off on introducing formula until it's our last option to supplement. Any advice on increasing supply? TIA!
Re: Best way to increase supply?
The more you use, the more you make, so I'm thinking if you pump more, you're supply will increase. I'm new at this but that's what I've been told. GL!
My situation wasn't quite the same as yours, but I did several things to up my supply.
- fenugreek (9 tablets a day for about 10 days)
- brewer's yeast tablets (9 tablets a day for about 10 days)
- oatmeal (daily for breakfast)
- nursed whenever LO was rooting and putting fist in mouth.
Honestly, what helped my supply most noticeably was nursing at the slightest inkling LO was hungry. I started that a bit later than everything else and am finally now feeling a fullness about every 2 hours. My supply will need to regulate itself again. I am still not getting huge pumping output, but feeling full every 2 hours is a huge step in the right direction.
I know you are at work, but maybe when you get home you could nurse, nurse, nurse? Not ideal...but it should only take a few days to up your supply.
GL!
